Granddad Jack's Hoppy Day's Gin pays homage to some of our favourite native plants and trees which flourish in our South-East Queensland backyard.
We worked alongside hop aficionado farmers from QLD's only hop farm, Hilltop Hops to create the base of this release. Located just 20 mins away from our Albion distillery, we were able to check out the harvest and handpick our very own Columbus Hops.
Since it poured down with rain on our visit, we managed to find a semi-dry spot to chat with one of the crew and discuss the origins of the farm, along with how they grow hops and the different types they've chosen to grow.
We then dried the hops and blended them with Juniper and locally sourced botanicals including Coastal Wattle Seeds, Illawarra Plums & Cinnamon Myrtle to produce our very own take on a small-batch, native gin.
Nose: Mix of plum & dried fruit notes with a herbaceous, pine finish and some hints of cinnamon spice.
Palate: A mouth-filling hop flavour with a nutty aftertaste and a dry, spiced and refreshing herbal finish.
