At Granddad Jack's, staff mark their one-year anniversary by being given the opportunity to work alongside the production team to think up and create their very own spirit.
From the initial concept to choosing the botanicals, putting together the label, distilling the product and sharing their story, the release is entirely their own. This has always been a tradition for our Miami distillery team. We've just celebrated our 1st birthday at our second venue, and with this precious milestone, we introduce our very first Brisbane Staff Anniversary Release.
Mixologist,Cooper Lockwood, is constantly shaking up a cocktail and conversations at our Albion Tasting Room. He always ensures you're having a good time, and his cheeky sense of humour and colourful stories are always making the team laugh. This release brings to life one of his many stories.
To create this release, Cooperworked closely with Mica (our production Queen) to craft a gin representing the flavours and ingredients he wanted to showcase. They pre-macerated the neutral spirit withorganic manuka honey, then vapour infused the spirit withfresh ginger,lemon peel,organic hemp tea,organic roasted hemp seedsandjuniper berries.
"When I was a cheeky young monkey and had the flu or wasn't feeling the best, my Mum would make a delicious remedy that would soothe any sore throat and cure any sickness or stressful moment. She'd make a tea from ginger and lemon and add the secret ingredient of manuka honey, known for lots of supporting immune properties. This tea would get me back on my feet in no time. Now, I have chosen to put my spin on this childhood memory & create a release that combines these flavours and my own cheeky ingredient..." - Cooper Lockwood - Albion Mixologist
Tasting Notes: Palate: Piquant and zesty never tasted so good! The ginger and lemon peel activates your senses and warms the throat, giving way to a sweet, caramel, nutty aftertaste from the hemp tea, hemp seeds and manuka honey.
Nose: Nutty and sweet, with a hint of zesty citrus accompanied by a lovely sweet floral, calming scent.
Serving suggestions: Try our signature "Damn Honey" cocktail recipe, or simply enjoy it neat. Pairs great with a dry tonic, ice, and garnish with lemon.
