This Granddad Jack’s limited-release liqueur is our twist on the traditional Italian Limoncello. Returning by popular demand and thanks to a good growing season, we introduce our third batch of Yuzucello.
Made with Yuzu, a unique citrus fruit, originally from China but now popular in Japanese cuisine. The Yuzu has a beautiful lemony, mandarin, and bergamot flavour. We were lucky to source ours locally from Buck's Farm, located in the heart of the Tweed Valley.
Buck's Farm has been operated for over 40 years by Gerard ‘Buck’ Buchanan, a passionate farmer and all-around good bloke who was the first commercial grower in Australia.
We hand-picked a couple of hundred Yuzus and, once back at the distillery, got peeling! The fresh peels sat for several days, macerating with our Penny Vodka. Then the infused spirit was sweetened with a hint of sugar and just the right amount of fresh Yuzu juice to bring out a brilliant tang.
The resulting liqueur has a delicious combination of the tangy and sweet Yuzu goodness, making it perfect for a summer cocktail or as an aperitif or digestif after a night of good food and wine.
When enjoying Yuzucello straight, serve chilled (but not over ice), with soda or a scoop of coconut ice cream to really savour the flavours.

This release is our very first Rum. Housed in our SE Qld barrel room in sub-tropical environments and aged for 2 years and 1 month in a 50L medium char American Oak barrel, this single barrel rum release was made from a pre-maturation blend of distilled molasses (74%) and unrefined cane sugar, known as distilled panela (26%). This blend created the perfect balance of light and grassy notes and bold and bitter notes from the molasses.
During the ageing process, 39% of the total starting volume was shared with the angels, resulting in a concentrated mixture of barrel spice and sweet rum. Reduced to 43% ABV, there are only 96 bottles available.

Four years ago, Luke created our very first batch of pink gin in honour of his partner, Jess, becoming a Mum and to celebrate the other incredible mothers and grandmother's in his life. Our Mother's Day Pink on Pink Gin Seasonal Release is here, and it's our best one yet.

At Granddad Jack's, staff mark their first anniversary by being given the opportunity to work alongside the production team to think up and create their very own spirit. The release is entirely their own, from concept to choosing the botanicals, putting together the label, distilling the product and sharing their story. But, when your family, this doesn’t usually apply…
Luke wanted to surprise his partner Jess with her very own release this year since she’s been with Granddad’s well before it opened five years ago.
Jess is our Marketing Manager & Brand Guardian. She has been working in the family business since its conception in 2018, with her role continuously evolving and developing with the brand. She’s a mum to their two boys, 4.5yr old Archer and 5-month-old Arlo, and currently looks after all of the marketing for Granddad Jack’s. Her diverse role includes everything from managing our digital media & design, socials & content creation, website development, copywriting, planning events & activations, managing new product development & limited releases, operations, procurement, cost management and freight & communication with our export partners. Over the years, she’s developed processes across the business, worked in the warehouse, looked after admin and finance and handled all of the customer service for the business.

We're so excited to be able to share her story with you and introduce this special limited staff release.
To create this release, Jess worked with Luke to create a cheeky alcoholic version of her favourite campfire treat. The base, a marshmallow essence that carries a slight smokiness. Next, a drizzle of honey and a pinch of cinnamon strikes the right balance and conjures the taste of crunchy, buttery graham crackers. Lastly, strong notes of rich cocoa, paired with a hint of vanilla, add a creamy sweetness that imitates the molten chocolate that binds all of the gooey goodness.

Back in 2019, we launched the very first Make Your Own Gin night in the country, and we’ve been very lucky to welcome over 500 people to this monthly sold-out experience. When you book a spot at the gin-making night, not only do you get the entire distillery to yourself and only five other people, but you also get to make your very own 500ml bottle of gin.
After choosing your own botanicals, distilling the spirit, labelling, and waxing the bottle, you get to take home and brag all about the gin you’ve just made (all while enjoying dinner, drinks, and a distillery tour with our Head Distiller). At the end of the evening, you leave a small sample with us to later enter a competition—a competition to make your gin on a bigger scale and have your very own Limited Release at Granddad Jack’s.
We are very proud to announce that Kelly Black is the very first winner of our Make Your Own Gin nights competition, and out of over 500 samples, she took out the top spot to have her very own gin released. From the recipe to distillation, the design on the label and the cocktails you’ll enjoy, Kelly has been part of the entire process, bringing to life her very own story to share with you all.

This Granddad Jack’s staff release is for Kailani Hubbard, or best known by her GJ’s family as Kikki. One of the friendliest faces you’ll see around our Gold Coast tasting room, and Queen of creating some of our favourite weekly cocktails. To celebrate her one year, Kikki has created a release that’s as elegant and cheeky as her, combining her love for Umeshu, a Japanese Plum Wine and her passion and talent for ballet.
Always smiling and cracking a joke, Kikki has been an incredibly valuable crew member here and we’re stoked to be able to showcase her release and share her story with you through this unique spirit.
“From before I could walk, I was dancing, not well but I was. I love the artistry, the athleticism, the elegance, and the structure of ballet. I love how my studio’s wooden floors smelt after a long day of class, having fresh oranges during my concert intervals, and indulging in the dreamiest vanilla slice at the theatre before watching a show. These memories are carefully contained within the flavours of this release!
One of the first-ever ballet shows I saw was The Nutcracker, an absolute cult favourite. I used to go during the holidays with my mum, Miss Caroline (my teacher) and Audrey (my dancing little sister). I always looked forward to watching the ‘Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy’, because she always wore the most beautiful tutu and danced to the best song in the show. I truly would dream about dancing like this one day, and thanks to the beautiful people in my life, I got to dance all the time with motivation stemming from the Sugar Plum Fairy; she is a huge reason why I continued to dance for years. So, I really wanted to make a homage to the character through my release.
Ironically one of my favourite drinks to have is Plum Wine, a beautiful Japanese liquor known as Umeshu. Tasting Notes: It’s the perfect back-and-forth between sweet and tart with a floral freshness in between. Nose: Sweet zest citrus, cut through with floral perfumed notes and a hint of dry, tartness and herbaceous salty hints. Palate: Sweet fleshy orange, with slight hints of tarty Kakadu, notes of perfumed dry lavender and floral jasmine petals, accentuated and rounded by the saltbush and mellowed through a long-lasting mouthfeel provided by the Ume plum sugar.

Tasting Notes:Nose: Floral, Sweet Cream, Meringue
Palate: Warm sweet, and floral spice from saffron, coated with a toffee caramel, cream mouthfeel from the vanilla beans, meringue and condensed milk.
Ingredients: Condensed Milk, Whey Powder, Vanilla Beans, Meringue Kisses, A Sh*t Tonne of Saffron
Production: When most ‘saffron’ spirits only use a few grams, we used close to 30g of saffron to bring Vendela’s vision to life in her staff release. Mica and Vendela worked closely together to create the vodka. They macerate condensed milk, whey powder, meringue kisses, vanilla beans and saffron. Then cooked and vapour infused the spirit with extra vanilla beans and meringue to add sweetness. They added a house-made saffron syrup to finish the spirit, adding extra colour and a truly silky and creamy mouthfeel.
This Granddad Jack’s staff release is for Kate Lawler. You'll rarely see Kate on socials or when you visit the Tasting Room because we keep her locked away... just kidding. Kate's one of the most important people at Granddad Jack's and is responsible for replying to your emails and paying the bills. She is the Group Admin Manager and looks after all of the administration and accounts for the business. Thanks for doing the important stuff Kate. Production: Kate's It’s Not Tequila is a unique and refined spirit crafted from organic Blue Agave Tequilana syrup from Jalisco, Mexico. This clear/silver agave spirit breaks away from traditional tequila production methods. Due to limited facilities for processing the agave plant, we have fermented the agave extract rather than the piña. This resulted in an exceptionally smooth, silver, and bold spirit.
